SUMMARY:Untiedt's CSA Sign Up\, delivered right to your cafe!
DESCRIPTION:  \nCommunity supported agriculture (CSA) is an opportunity for local-food enthusiasts to participate in the successes and failures of a local farm felt during a Minnesota growing season. The member of the general-public starts by selecting a local fruit and/or vegetable grower they trust\, and registers to buy a share of their yield. Through this purchase this person becomes a CSA shareholder\, and receives a commitment from their chosen grower to provide them a weekly share of in-season produce throughout the growing season. \nThe grower agrees to harvest\, clean\, sort\, sometimes cool (if needed)\, containerize\, and deliver the share to a mutually convenient location. The shareholder agrees to pay for their share prior to the beginning of the season\, which often times allows the grower to be able to sow\, cultivate\, harvest\, and deliver the harvest without having to borrow expensive operating capital. By signing up early\, you are helping the farm by providing the necessary cash flow to ensure the farmer can buy seeds and the equipment needed to have a successful crop. Should the crop fail due to forces beyond control of the grower (hail storms\, flooding\, droughts\, insect and plagues)\, the CSA shareholder agrees to share in part of the crop losses by accepting a smaller CSA box. \nFor many growers\, this risk sharing can be a significant factor in the sustainability of their farming venture. To the shareholder\, this strategic partnership provides a sense of ownership in the CSA farming operation in the food it produces as well as a stronger bond to their farmer partner. \nUntiedt’s CSA Program \nUntiedt’s Vegetable Farm’s weekly CSA shareholder’s box lasts 17 weeks\, starting mid-June. Our shareholders have the option of purchasing a full-share to feed a family of four to six\, or a half-share to feed a family of two to three. We offer delivery to over 50 locations throughout the Twin Cities area. \nWe cordially invite you to consider registering to purchase your share of our hand-harvested asparagus\, fresh-picked raspberries and strawberries\, our famous State Fair sweet corn\, our Honeycrisp and Swee Tango Apples and much\, much more! We honestly believe our produce can exceed your expectations for homegrown flavor. We look forward to an opportunity where We Can Grow For You! \nUntiedt’s Vegetable Farm CSA share is like none other! We have over 50 different small fruits and vegetable crops being raised on our farmlands. Along with that large selection comes the extended “harvest window\,” which is much wider than most other Minnesota growers because we farm many crops using high tunnels. This allows us to begin the harvest much sooner than growers who must wait for the risk of frost and cold winds to subside before they are able to sow their seeds which delays harvest dates in Minnesota. \nFor example\, we normally begin harvesting Red Ripe tomatoes by the third week of June. This means our shareholders will be eating Red Ripe Minnesota Grown tomatoes in the month of June instead of waiting until early August – which is when most other growers’ tomatoes come to market. \nWhere do I sign up? \nYou may sign up on our website here.
